Follow Friday


Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

No, I can't say that I have. Bad reviews don't really deter me from reading a book, but I've never gone out of my way to read something just because people didn't enjoy it.

    I only let bad reviews deter me if they're all complaining about the same thing and that thing happens to be a deal breaker for me (ex. instalove, lack of research, etc.)

    For certain books, like Fifty Shades of Grey, the negative reviews make me stay as far away from those books as possible. I don't think I would ever buy a book because a bunch of people didn't like it.

    They can deter me if it's a reviewer I know and trust. I don't understand the "reading because a bad review" thing. I want to read GOOD books!

    It really depends on the book as to whether I let bad reviews deter me from purchasing or not.

    I haven't purposedly bought a book because I want to prove that it's not bad, but I am curious to why people would say it's bad.
