Musing Mondays
What kind of books do you like to read?
Why? Provide specific examples.
Ok, this one is not an easy one for me because I pretty much love reading every genre (except maybe sci-fi). There is no rhyme or reason for the books I read, just whatever catches my fancy at the moment. Here is a very, very simplified sampling of the kind of things I read:
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Literary fiction at its best.
The Egyptologist by Arthur Phillips. I love the way Phillips' narrators are never too reliable.
The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King. Awesome, scary series.
Dragonlance series by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. My favorite high fantasy series.
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. As readers of my blog know, this is my favorite book ever.
Caribou Island by David Vann. This one is a seriously depressing book, but one of the best ones I read last year.
There's just so many more that I could mention. Harry Potter, anything by Margaret Atwood... just too many wonderful books out there.

Yeah, Phillips' novels are real brain-benders. Did you read The Tragedy of Arthur? It's very funny.
That's great. Thanks for stopping by!
I'll read just about anything too. I've been wanting to read the Dark Tower series. I love Stephen King so I'm sure I'll like them.
great variety...my answer is much more dull. I just love mysteries.
Sometimes it is hard to choose or to decide about our preferences.
I've gone through many phases over the years...I remember the summer I read Dostoevsky and Tolstoy...I called it my Russian period.
Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
It definitely can be hard to figure this out. And often times when asked this question, people over simplize their answer. At least I know I do.
I haven't read any of those books. I'm definitely going to have to check them out.

The Drangon Lance series has to me my all time favorite. The books were lent to me by a friend, and they were my first taste of high fantasy. :)
