What book are you embarrassed to admit you LOVED? Probably Exit to Eden by Anne Rice. It is erotica, with BDSM qualities. I have no problem reading erotica once in a while, but I'm not a huge fan of BDSM, which is why it surprised me that I actually enjoyed reading this particular book. I guess it helped that it had a good plot and wasn't just a bunch of bondage sex scenes pasted together.
