What’s more important to you? Real, three-dimensional, fleshed-out fascinating characters? Or an amazing, page-turning plot?
I would have to say three-dimensional characters are what I prefer to have. I can forgive some plot issues if the characters are well-done and seem like real people. Even if they are supernatural creatures, or have magical powers, I need them to be intelligently written, otherwise, I lose interest.

yeah, I have to have good characters too, but I still think I need the story line more...unless, of course, it's a series, then the characters are paramount....just too hard to choose one or the other!
This is so funny to me. I've seen this question a bazillion times and most people feel the same way you do. I always think I agree but if I really think about it I've read many a book and enjoyed it because the plot was so fun but the characters were only sub par.
