I recently read Barracuda by Christos Tsiolkas. It was a story that really resonated with me for a number of personal reasons, and it is full of quotes that had me nodding my head in just how perfectly the author captured pain and regret. This is just one of them:
“I want two scars, one on each of my shoulder blades.”
He shrugged in confusion. “What do you mean?”
“Two scars,” I repeated, “for where my wings used to be, where my wings were torn away from me.”
