Booking Through Thursday

E-readers like the Kindle and iPad are sweeping the nation … do you have one? Do you like it? Do you find it changes your reading/buying habits? If you don’t have one, do you plan to?
I'm not a huge fan of e-readers. Actually, I'm not even a little fan. I truly dislike them. There's just nothing like holding a real book. I've fiddled with a Kindle, tested it out, and it's definitely not for me.
I do review ebooks, though they are not my favorites, and I read those on my phone with the different apps for Android.
I have no plan to get an ereader. Did I mention I really, really, dislike them?

I agree, I still prefer the actual book.

I like mine for traveling but I still prefer books. It's funny you can read on your phone though. Doesn't the light bother you? I have the Kindle app on my iPod but hardly every use it. Ebooks aren't my favorite either.

It's a relief to know there are still some purists out here. It's almost distressing to me to see books lose ground to gadgets.

Hahah! You must really dislike them!
I dislike e-books, too, but I think I may get an e-reader, sometime. Though, if I had to give up the actual books, I'd be really upset!
Great answer :)

Yay! Someone else who doesn't like e-books :) They just aren't books.

My BTT post is here if you'd like a look :)

E-readers are definitely an acquired taste! I much prefer printed books!

My boyfriend has a Kobo, which I borrowed once when I had an e-book I wanted to read. I enjoyed reading it, because it's so lightweight and easy to hold in one hand. I would never give up paper books, but I think e-readers are a nice supplement. I might get one of my own, once they slow down on the constantly-making-a-new-one-that-makes-yours-obsolete thing. I'd love the newest Kobo (the one that's basically a tablet), but it's $200, and that's more than I'm willing to spend.

I can definitely appreciate and respect this opinion! I used to be EXACTLY the same. I broke down eventually, but I don't blame people for despising e-readers. No e-reader can compare to holding a book in your hands. ^-^

I got my Kindle in December 2009. I had a lot of friends with just ebooks and I don't like reading a book on my computer--still don't really--so I thought the Kindle would be perfect. Now I prefer reading on my Kindle. I still love hardback books. They're so pretty on my shelves, but they're unhandy to sit and read most of the time for me.

Of course, it wasn't always like that. Pre-Kindle, I loved paper books. Even when I first started with the Kindle, I still read more paper books at first. Of course, when you read a monster Stephen King novel on your Kindle, you really become to appreciate it. ;)

In the end, I just love reading. I don't care if it's on stone tablets, paper, or floating in cyberspace.

I get e-books to review too and I usually read them online. It is becoming really difficult. Maybe I should just stop trying with NetGalley and that. I can understand how you feel, I am still hesitant to buy an e-reader.

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Hello! Thanks for visiting my blog!

I do love the feel of real books, the way they smell and the way the pages feel.

I haven't tried an e-reader yet so I don't know if I love them or hate them. I do like e-books though because they give me an opportunity to read books that are out of print or books that I couldn't normally find.
