Booking Through Thursday

What book took you the longest to read, and do you feel it was the content or just the length that made it so?

I would have to say Middlemarch by George Eliot. It took me months to get through it. Mainly, I found my thoughts wandering as I read, never a good thing. I've read other books by Eliot and I've never had a problem with her writing before. I guess it was just this particular book that bored me.

Thanks for stopping by. I have not read Middlemarch. It is always sad when a book leaves your mind wandering. It's not a good thing at all!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I have never heard of Middlemarch. I have also had the same problem with letting my mind wonder when I'm reading a boring book. It's like I constantly have to tell myself to pay attention.

I, also have not heard of Middlemarch. but I am glad to know that you share my feelings with the Shiny Cover Syndrome. sometimes it's unfortunate because I also suffer from Wandering Mind Syndrome.
thanks for stopping by! have a wonderful week!

I always want to read the books on your blog. You read the most interesting things. I can see that with Middlemarch, I think since most things we published for the newspapers sometimes they wandered a bit. Here is my BTT: http://edwardsgranddaugther.blogspot.com/2012/04/reviewing-10-things-i-want-my-son-as-i.html

Mine is probably Star Trek and Philosophy: The Wrath of Kant. Basically if you've taken first year philosophy, the majority of the essays are agonizingly simplified. The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales took me about the same amount of time (both were 2-3 months); all the stories are pretty much the same after a while!
