I have a lot of favorites, but the two predominant are:
Sherlock Holmes (and don't even get me started on the atrocity that is the new movie with what's his name)
I love his intelligence and the relationship he has with Watson.
And Raistlin Majere from the Dragonlance series. He is a mage with all kinds of issues, but now, that I think about it, I like him for the same reasons: his intelligence and his relationship with his twin brother.
