Q. Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).

This is a hard one. I think my first literary obsession, which really sparked a huge flame, especially with English literature, was reading a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories. I read it when I was in fourth grade, I'd just gotten to this country with my family, and I felt out of place. I remember going to the library and pickig out this book, hoping I woulnd't have problems understanding the language. I began to read it and could not put it down. It made a safety net from all the changes around me. It's one of those books that I can pick up and feel safe.

I love this post. I think that's a great answer. I've never read Sherlock Holmes but I can imagine it being a great comfort and a great way to escape!
I love Sherlock Holmes. The Hound of the Baskervilles is my favorite!
